- The legal framework for foreign investment
- Arbitration and investor protection
- Audited
Railroad Development Corp. (RDC/Ferrovías) sued Guatemala at ICSID (ARB/07/23) under CAFTA-DR over the railway sector. The award of 29 June 2012 found, unanimously, a breach of the minimum standard of treatment (article 10.5 of CAFTA). RDC reported collecting the full US$14.6 million, a figure verified in the audit of 2026-08-19 against Progressive Railroading; it comes from trade press and includes interest, and the exact principal per the text of the award (italaw) has yet to be extracted.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
