According to Table 1 of UNDP's Human Development Report 2025, Guatemala had 5.8 mean years of schooling and 10.7 expected years of schooling in 2023, with an HDI of 0.662 (rank 137). In the region, mean years of schooling were 10.8 in Panama, 9.9 in Nicaragua, 8.8 in Costa Rica and in Belize, 7.5 in Honduras and 7.3 in El Salvador; the Panama, Costa Rica and Honduras values carry the table's 'e' mark. With another source and definition, Guate en Datos reports 6.26 average years of study for the population aged 15 to 64, last among the eight countries it compares (Panama 10.44, Costa Rica 9.12, Honduras 7.51). The two series are not comparable.
