The English Technical-Vocational Training Scholarship Programme (Probefi), run by the Directorate General of Out-of-School Education (Digeex) of the Ministry of Education (Mineduc), awards English scholarships; the training is delivered by Intecap, and the programme pays one stipend for attendance and another for the course score. According to Prensa Libre (25 February 2026, a piece written in collaboration with the Guatemala No Se Detiene project), vice-minister Carlos Aldana said around 13,460 scholarships were awarded in 2025, because each course counts as one scholarship and the same student can take several levels; according to the institution, 8,575 people benefited against an initial target of 5,420 students. For 2026, Aldana estimated serving about 3,500 new students, in addition to those continuing, and extending job placement towards tourism and technology. On Jun 4, 2026 AGN reported that Mineduc will award 18,626 English scholarships that year through Probefi; in that report Aldana said the programme reached 13 thousand people in 2025.
