01What they are
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We also use the browser's storage to remember, on this device, your preferences: the theme, whether you prefer less motion, what you saved without an account, each chart's range and the introductions you have seen; and, while the tab is open, your recent questions in Ask. It never leaves your browser. This policy lists exactly which ones we use and why.

If you don't sign in, the site stores ag_consent (only once you choose an option in the notice) and two session cookies with no personal data, NEXT_LOCALE and hx_wave, which are deleted when you close the browser.
03The ones we don't use
No advertising, social-media or cross-site tracking cookies. We don't sell or share browsing data. Fonts and videos are served from our own domain.
04Measuring use
If we switch on visit measurement, it will be cookieless (Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights): it counts visits and load times in aggregate, without identifying anyone. Until we switch it on, nothing is measured. It is not switched on for now; if we switch it on, we will say so here, with the date.
05How to choose
The cookie notice lets you accept measurement or keep only the necessary ones. You can change your choice at any time from the "Cookies" link at the foot of every page. You can also delete cookies in your browser; deleting the session cookie signs you out.
