The Puerto San José international cargo airport
- Municipal intelligence for siting
- The country, department by department
- Audited
San José is the municipality of Puerto Quetzal (the main Pacific port) and of the Zona Libre Quetzal free zone (4 km from the port). The international cargo airport project accumulated six contracts worth almost Q700 million awarded under the Giammattei government, with more than Q400 million paid, according to Soy502 (27 April 2025); AGN reported progress on the runway, taxiway, terminal and control tower in 2022-2023. The physical state of the works and the current government's decision could not be extracted in the audit, and there is no later official confirmation of an opening or of operations - it is an open gap in the dossier.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
