National GDP per capita in 2024 was Q49,228.3 per inhabitant. Only five departments exceed it: Guatemala (Q103,948.9), Escuintla (Q93,256.9), El Progreso (Q59,660.9), Zacapa (Q56,184.0) and Izabal (Q54,310.5) - the capital plus south coast plus dry-corridor/Atlantic axis. The lowest are Totonicapán, Huehuetenango, Quiché, Alta Verapaz and San Marcos. Reading for site selection: per inhabitant, Escuintla is almost as productive as the department of Guatemala - it is an industrial, energy and port capital, not agricultural periphery. Per capita was calculated with the statistics institute's (INE) Departmental Projections 2010-2050 (preliminary figures).
