Izabal was the department with the sharpest contraction in 2023: -5.8% according to Prensa Libre citing the 2023 PIBR report; the text extracted from Chart 3 of the 2024 report suggests -6.2% for 2023 (a revised figure) and 0.8% for 2024. The dossier records both figures and calls for a visual reading of the chart or of Banguat's XLSX tables to settle it. Even so, Izabal still holds the country's 5th-highest GDP per capita (Q54,310.5 in 2024), which confirms the economic density of its ports.
