- Audited
Chimaltenango town is a competitive regional center on the Inter-American Highway (CA-1), with yarn, textiles and maquilas, plus food processing; its declared advantage is quick access to the capital. The department grew 4.5% in real terms in 2024, among the most dynamic. It has no free zone and no ZDEEP registered in the municipality (checked against dossier 07): maquila operates there under Decree 29-89 in standalone plants.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
