USDA's Grain and Feed Annual 2026 (April 13, 2026) estimates 2025/26 corn output at 1.629 million tons on 888,660 harvested hectares (yield 1.83 t/ha), led by Petén (498,692 t), Alta Verapaz (303,980 t) and Quiché (184,011 t); 2026/27 is forecast at 1.630 million t. Corn imports, mostly yellow corn for feed, exceed output: 1.96 million t in 2025/26 and 1.97 million forecast for 2026/27, for total consumption of 3.53–3.54 million t (1.87 million feed and residual, 1.66 million food, seed and industrial). White corn is the only agricultural product under a tariff-rate quota in CAFTA-DR. In rice, 2025/26 output fell to 16,000 t milled-rice equivalent (4.6 t/ha rough on drought) and is forecast at 18,000 t for 2026/27 on about 5,000 hectares, with imports of 130,000 t covering nearly all consumption (146,000–148,000 t); Alta Verapaz supplies about 50 % of national output, San Marcos 19 % and Jutiapa 13 %. At end-March 2026 wholesale white corn was quoted at 24.68 dollars per 100 pounds and yellow at 24.36.
