What is the status of Bill 6816, the Water Law, in Congress?

Tabled on Aug 3, 2026 by a group of deputies with executive backing (La Hora, 4 Aug); it runs to 215 articles; the plenary took it up on Aug 11,… 2026 and sent it to the Environment and Natural Resources Committee (Prensa Libre, 14 Aug). The main criticism is centralization in a National Water Superintendency with little municipal participation; CACIF wants a technical working group.
