According to Infobae (July 2026, on a site visit by President Arévalo), cargo grew 30% between 2024 and 2026 and container discharge per vessel went from around 300 to 900–1,200 units, with peaks of 1,500. Works: Yard 3A 'Los Monos', of 5,100 m² and 516 TEU of capacity, at a final cost of Q9.228 million (a saving of Q6.125 million, ≈40%, through an inter-institutional agreement); Yard 4, of 192 TEU, at a cost of Q3.804 million (a saving of Q2.536 million); and reinforcement of the pier built in 1985-86, a structure of 193 m × 14.67 m on 210 piles of 20 m, raising load capacity from 2.9 to 4.9 t/m². In hydrocarbons, since 26 March 2026 a tanker is handled every 2.5 days against one every 3.82 days before.
