Economy Minister's statement at a press conference; article of Mar 11, 2025La HoraMINECO's press release on the launch of the National Strategy for Attracting Foreign Direct Investment (published Jun 13, 2024, quoting Economy Minister Gabriela García) sets out the priority sectors and markets but prints no projected investment or job figure for the strategy. According to La Hora (11 March 2025), Minister García said there is a portfolio of approximately 31 active companies accounting for 'aproximadamente US$ 1,648.5 millones' and the possibility of creating 10 mil 776 (10,776) direct and indirect jobs, stressing that this is a projection and that some of those investments could take 12 to 18 months to materialise. AGN (10 March 2025) carries the same statement: a portfolio of 31 active companies that 'suma mil 648 millones de dólares' and 'alrededor de 10 mil 776 empleos directos e indirectos proyectados'. On 6 March 2025, Diario de Centro América quoted the minister with approximate figures for the 31 foreign companies in talks with Pro Guatemala: an intention to bring in capital of '1 mil 600 millones de dólares y 9 mil empleos, aproximadamente', with some companies still to define their projections.
