In 2025 Guatemala exported US$1,056 million of bananas (Banguat via Prensa Libre). It is the world's third-largest exporter behind Ecuador and the Philippines, with about 13% of world demand (FAO 2022, 2.3 million tonnes), according to the Diario de Centro América. Banana Link states that it supplies about 40% of the bananas entering the North American market, with at least 30,000 direct jobs and production that has shifted out of Izabal (today about 20% of the total) towards the southern Pacific coast; these percentages come from a secondary source and must be verified with USDA/FAS.
