Ten mills are grouped in Asazgua; around 60% of output is exported to some 60 countries and about 40% goes to the domestic market, fortified with vitamin A and iron (Guatecaña/Asazgua, 2025). The cluster has its own infrastructure: Expogranel (a bulk terminal specialized in sugar at Puerto Quetzal), Cengicaña (research), Fundazúcar and ICC (climate change).
