There is no official census of developers. The best public proxy is the GitHub Innovation Graph, which counts 195,658 active developer accounts in Guatemala in Q1 2026, against 142,624 in Q1 2025 (+37% year on year) and 132,681 in Q4 2024; the intervening quarterly series runs 149,980 (Q2 2025), 164,505 (Q3 2025) and 178,072 (Q4 2025). The count excludes bots and spam but includes students and hobbyists, so it is not equivalent to professional developers. As a secondary demand signal, Terminal.io states that software developer vacancies in Guatemala grew 41% between Q4 2021 and Q4 2023 (a commercial source, still to be verified).

The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.

a proxy of GitHub accounts, not of professionals; the vacancy figure is commercial

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
