According to the cited documentsTo be confirmedSectors

Garment assembly is concentrated in the metropolitan area: the MSICG union report reproduces a MINECO count of textile firms registered under Decree 29-89 by municipality (active, cancelled, inactive and pending, 1990 to Sep 1, 2011), led by the municipality of Guatemala, Mixco and Villa Nueva, with presences in Escuintla, Palín, Amatitlán, San Miguel Petapa, Sacatepéquez and Chimaltenango; the report itself summarises the concentration in the departments of Guatemala, Escuintla, Sacatepéquez, Chimaltenango and Quetzaltenango. CNN en Español's report (Oct 18, 2025) describes workers arriving at 'the industrial buildings that line the highways of the Guatemalan capital', places a factory 'in San Miguel Petapa, south of Guatemala City' and quotes the labour minister: 'of the more than 850 textile maquilas in Guatemala, only 76 allow a union'.
