According to Revista E&N (Aug 4, 2026), citing Banco de Guatemala data, avocado exports brought in about US$17 million at the close of 2025. The outlet adds that the Netherlands accounts for 50% of purchases, followed by Honduras, the United Kingdom, El Salvador, Italy and Belgium. The same outlet reports that local output is growing between 15% and 20% a year and that the sector plans to add up to 20,000 additional tonnes of Hass avocado for export by 2028. AGEXPORT, via Emisoras Unidas (May 24, 2026), said avocado foreign sales rose from USD$7.1 million in 2020 to USD$15.8 million in 2023. Prensa Libre (4 December 2024) reported that U.S. authorisation to admit Hass avocado produced in Guatemala was obtained on 7 November 2024 and that, based on Maga's export projections, the USDA estimates initial exports of around 1,700 metric tonnes worth US$14.5 million. In berries, the agri-finance blog Cambiagro (01/2026) says blackberry is the most demanded in the international market and that the main markets are the United States (82%), Europe (15%) and Central America (3%). As challenges, according to E&N the sector acknowledges that expansion will depend on meeting ever higher sanitary, phytosanitary, sustainability and traceability requirements; AGEXPORT, via Emisoras Unidas, listed higher phytosanitary requirements in international markets, rising logistics costs, the need to adapt to climate change and increasingly strong global competition.
