US$823 million

2025Prensa Libre

In 2025 exports of fats and oils totalled US$823 million (Banguat via Prensa Libre). Grepalma states that Guatemala is the world's third-largest exporter with 1.8% of global trade. In 2023 the planted area was 180,614 hectares (1.66% of the national territory) and exports came to 878,000 tonnes, against 400,000 tonnes in 2014; the Netherlands buys 42.5% of the volume and Spain 18.9% (Grepalma socio-economic statistics 2023; República). The honest constraints are the land and water conflict documented by CEUR-USAC and the requirements of the EUDR regulation in the European market, its main destination.
