According to Guatemala's WIPO Lex profile and WIPO publication 423 (status on 15 April 2019), Guatemala is party to, among others, the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property (in force for Guatemala since 18 August 1998), the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (Jul 28, 1997), the Patent Cooperation Treaty, PCT (14 October 2006), the Budapest Treaty on the deposit of microorganisms (14 October 2006), the WIPO Copyright Treaty (4 February 2003), the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty (8 January 2003), the Trademark Law Treaty (12 December 2016), the Marrakesh Treaty (30 September 2016), the Rome Convention (14 January 1977) and the Convention establishing WIPO (30 April 1983). The Madrid Protocol and the Hague Agreement are not among the treaties the profile lists Guatemala as party to. The Agreement on Reciprocal Trade with the United States, signed on 30 January 2026, requires Guatemala to ratify or accede to the international intellectual-property treaties in its Annex III (article 1.14) and to implement them fully (art. 2.5).
