Location of garment factories and maquilas
- Sectors and investment opportunities
- Apparel and textiles
- not audited
Garment assembly is concentrated in the metropolitan area and its southern and western corridor: Mixco, Villa Nueva (zone 4), San Miguel Petapa (zone 7 as reported) and Chimaltenango; Chimaltenango also has cotton and wool spinning mills, according to the MSICG union report and CNN's October 2025 story. No georeferenced register of plants was found (one that would confirm these clusters quantitatively and include Sacatepéquez); it remains to be requested from VESTEX.
The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
