AGEXPORT Hoy reports more than 150,000 direct and indirect jobs in apparel and textiles (roughly half of them held by women) and 275 exporting companies in the ecosystem, on 2025-2026 data; the audit of 19 August 2026 verified both figures with no changes. The same trade association states that the sector accounts for around 7.7% of GDP, but that figure does not square with the national accounts and probably refers to manufacturing GDP rather than the total; it is flagged as promotional and pending cross-check with Banguat.

The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.

7.7% of GDP is a trade-association figure, probably measured against manufacturing GDP — verify with Banguat before publishing

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
