With a Guatemalan employer, the IGM asks for an offer letter and for the employer to be registered as guarantor. With a foreign employer (remote work), it asks for income from abroad of at least US$2,000 a month (US$3,000 with dependants) and international health insurance. In both cases the cost is US$200 for 1 year, US$300 for 2 years or US$500 for 3–5 years, plus the US$25 application fee. The work permit from the Ministry of Labor "is a separate and mandatory procedure" for migrant workers.

The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
