Yazaki North America announced on 1 June 2022 a pilot plant in Ayutla, San Marcos, with an investment of almost US$10 million and up to 1,000 jobs; it is the first auto-parts manufacturer to set up in the country and the best-documented greenfield case of the decade. The plant opened in February 2023 and, according to República, now employs between 850 and 1,000 people making wire harnesses as a direct supplier to Ford. The 2022 announcement comes from a corporate release; the current employment figure is from the press.

The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
