Telefónica's exit and the América Móvil purchase
- The record of foreign investment: real cases
- Foreign investment, in figures

On 24 January 2019 América Móvil announced the purchase of Telefónica's Guatemalan operation for US$333 million, which it later folded into Claro. The useful contrast for an investor is that the parallel sale of Telefónica El Salvador (US$315 million) failed on regulatory obstacles, while the Guatemalan one did close. The source is Wikipedia (secondary) and the amount was verified in the audit of 19 August 2026; it still has to be checked against América Móvil's material-event filing or the Spanish securities regulator (CNMV).

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
