According to CICIG, the TCQ case involved an irregular usufruct contract between TCQ, S.A. and the Quetzal Port Authority obtained ‘in exchange for bribes’. The 15 people linked to it include former president Otto Pérez Molina, former vice-president Roxana Baldetti and Supreme Court justice Douglas Charchal. Chronology: nine arrests on 15 April 2016; formal charges brought on 6 May 2016 before judge Miguel Ángel Gálvez; six defendants sent to trial on 19 March 2018; first conviction for passive bribery (five years) on 5 September 2018. The CICIG page does not include the amount of the bribe, the role of Spain's Grup Marítim TCB as the original shareholder, or Juan Carlos Monzón's role as a cooperating witness; those details require the judgment and the prosecution file. The chronology was verified in the audit of 19 August 2026.
