The cases dossier is marked ‘pending verification’: nothing enters the verified archive without the data phase. It classifies its sources at three levels: (a) official primary sources (Banguat, CICIG, laws, gob.gt), (b) reputable secondary sources (major press, Wikipedia with cross-checking, stock-exchange filings) and (c) corporate or promotional claims, flagged as such. The web-search budget ran out halfway through the session (200 of 200), so everything published comes from verified direct fetches and the unconfirmed cases were left intact on the ‘to research’ list with no figures estimated. The audit of 19 August 2026 verified without discrepancies the 2025p FDI total and its breakdown by country, the details in the Yazaki plant 2 release, the Millicom–Tigo deal, Pan American Silver's purchase of Tahoe, Telefónica's sale to América Móvil and the chronology of the TCQ case, and corrected five points (Escobal, the OFAC sanction, the lifting of sanctions, the Millicom closing and the withdrawn Nestlé figure).

The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
