The UK continuity agreement after Brexit
- Trade agreements and market access
- Agreements and preferences in force
- Audited
After Brexit, the United Kingdom and the six Central American countries (Panama included) signed a continuity Association Agreement in 2019 (MS No.32/2019, published on 6 August 2019) that replicates the trade pillar of the agreement with the EU: preferential tariffs, quotas, services, intellectual property and geographical indications, public procurement, and sanitary and phytosanitary measures. gov.uk reports it 'in effect' with full ratification, but does not publish the exact date of application — commonly cited as 1 January 2021; the audit confirmed that this gap is real. There are no bilateral series with the United Kingdom in the file (proposed as `trade_exports_gb` / `trade_imports_gb`).
The research is written in English; quoted figures, source names and the titles of legal instruments stay in the language their source published them in.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
