CGN was renamed Fenix Minerales S.A. and Pronico became Fenix Metales S.A.; the parent company changed from Solway (Switzerland) to Fenix Nickel Company LLC (New York) after OFAC sanctions and social conflict. Operations restarted in May 2026 with community consultations still contested, according to Prensa Libre and Prensa Comunitaria. It is the third flagship project with a record of sanctions and conflict, and it illustrates the social-license risk the dossier flags for metal mining.
