- Social license and prior consultation
- Social license and prior consultation
- not audited
According to Pan American Silver's figures, Escobal has proven and probable reserves of 264.5 million ounces of silver, a 4,500 t/d plant and historical output of ~20 Moz a year between 2014 and 2017. With nine years of suspension and an adverse consultation result whose legal effect is undefined, it is the world's reference case of 'legal license without social license'. The annual care and maintenance cost to the company (10-K/MD&A) has yet to be extracted.

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
