Villa Nueva (a "do not travel" municipality) and Amatitlán are at the same time the historical industrial axis (parks such as Zeta La Unión and the corridor towards Escuintla, dossier 07), and Escuintla simultaneously holds the largest ZDEEPs (Michatoya Pacífico) and 49% of cargo hold-ups. The sector's documented practice is to operate inside closed industrial parks with private perimeter security and to manage the risk in transit, not at the plant. Guatemala and Escuintla account for about 50% of the country's homicides (2024, OSAC).

This layer is research: read from public sources by the archive's own team, every claim cited with the date it was consulted, and audited where it is marked so. It has not entered the verified store — no figure here was fetched back from its source or stamped with a retrieval time — so it wears no red provenance numeral and never mixes with the verified figures.
