Access has been won on paper but no first shipment is confirmed: APHIS finalized the rule in November 2024 (USDA announcement of 8 November 2024) and an update of 4 April 2025 added the borer Copturus aguacatae as a regulated pest (pest-free places of production, a joint NPPO-APHIS operational work plan, ACIR database). USDA projects ~1,700 t (US$14.5 M) initially and potential above 15,000 t (US$45 M) by 2030. The production base: 56 farms under Plant Health surveillance since 2019 (1,442 ha), 18 of them free of pests (Prensa Libre, November 2024); ~6,000 ha planted, with a projection of 15,000 ha within a decade. The actual chronology: shipments were projected for January 2025; the MAGA–APHIS operational work plan was signed in June 2025; as of 5 August 2025 the Anaguacate–APHIS cooperative agreement and the visit by US supervisors were still outstanding — with no exports made. Status as of August 2026: to be verified.
